A student chapter of the Institution Of Engineers has been functioning in our college. The chapters is conducting various activities in association with the different departments in college.

 Alumini Association  

Alumni Association of Govt. Engineering College Thrissur was formed in 1967.The association was registered under the name Alumni Association (Headquarters) Govt. Engineering College Thrissur with Reg 951/2000.

  The objectives of the association are
  To bring the alumni together, to keep them in contact with the Alma Mater
  To foster relationships between the alumni and the present students
  To get participation of alumni in the developmental activities of the college
  To provide financial help to deserving students depending on the availability of funds
  To develop Industry Institute Interaction through alumni members
  To improve placement opportunities for fellow alumni and fresh graduates

The association has 9 chapters all over the worldare over 13,000 ordinary members in the association.The association has around 1623 Life members and around 500 fresh graduate members.

One of the projects currently in progress is the New Millenium Auditorium jointly sponsored by the Alumni Association and PTA

Entreprenership Development Club (EDC) is functioning in our college. The objective of the Club is to motivate students, to be an entreprenur. The club is a platform for students to interact with successful Entreprenurs.

The Government Engineering College, Thrissur is a programme Centre of Indira Gandhi National Open Univeristy. The Centre was activated for Baehlor of Technology in Construction Management (BTCM) and Bachlor of Technology in water Resources Engineering (BTWRE) from 1994 onwards. The course durations 4 years. As an approval of proper functioning, the centre is now activated for new course Diploma in computor Integrated Manufacturing (DCIM) from 2005. The duration of course is one year. There about 25 counsellors attached to the centre.

The counselling & guidance cell initated by a group of dedicated teachers of GEC, TCR is a sensitive attempt to reach out to the students and help them to resolve their academic as well as personal problems.

The cell envisages a broad vision of education by connecting education with guidance as an integral part of the teaching profession. It is also the realization of the immense stress suffered silently by the students coming from varied backgrounds due to academic pressure and adjustment problems in the campus on one side and parental ambitions and expections of the socieity on the other side. The cell offers both professional as well as informal guidance to the students. The cell also conducts various programmes for the personal growth of students as part of the student welfare activity.
