The department faculty is actively engaged in research and consultancy work in areas like environmental pollution control, water and waste water analysis, energy auditing and management, polymeric and composite material processing, computer software development, process development, upgradation, testing and analysis etc. Many large scale and small scale industrial concerns have availed consultancy services from the department and some of them received awards instituted by the Kerala State Pollution Control Board.

Some of the consultancy works undertaken by the department during last year are as follows:
  · Design of effluent treatment plants with recycling for Travancore Extra Weave, 
   Cherthala; Specified Rubbers Pvt. Ltd., Thenkasi, Tamil Nadu; M/s William
   Goodacre & Sons India (Pvt.) Ltd., Alappuzha etc.

  · Design of waste water treatment plants with recycling and reuse at Wonderla    
    Holidays Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore; Al-Shifa Hospital, Pathanamthitta; Sree Gokulam
    Medical College & Research Cenre, Venjarammoodu, Thiruvananthapuram;
    Taj Green Cove Resort, Kovalam; Malappuram Municipality etc.

  · Preparation of project report for the modification of existing effluent treatment plant
    for Kerala Chemicals & Proteins Ltd., Koratty.
