College Council

The college council consists of the Principal, the Heads of Departments, the Professor of Physical education and three elected members from the faculty. For the year 2005 - 2006 the three elected members are Prof. George Thomas, Prof. K. Vidyasagar, Dr. A. Praveen. The Principal is the ex-officio President of the council and the Secretary is appointed by the council.

The general administration of the college is by the Principal, subject to the control of the Director of Technical Education. The council is empowered to consider and report on any question concerning accommodation , courses of instruction, or rules of discipline referred to it by the Principal, but it shall not interfere in any manner with the general administration of the college which is invested in the Principal.

All questions of promotion, term certificates, cases of misconduct on the part of students, scholarships etc. will be dealt with by the Principal in consultation with the college council.

 Grievance Council          

The college has a Grievance Cell comprising of 6 Faculty members to look into the grievances of the students including the complaints regarding internal assessment if any.The members of the cell are:

The elected College Union is the highest body that addresses the concerns, needs & welfare of the student community. The union has at all times strived to meet the academic, extra caricular and cultural needs of the students. The College Union has the following objectives.
 
  a. To train the students in the duties, responsibilities and rights of citizenship.
  b. To promote opportunities for the building of character, leadership, knowledge
      and spirit of service.
  c. To encourage educational, sports, arts and cultural activities that are vital for the
      generation of refined citizens.
  d. To work for the welfare of the students.

 Group Advisory System                                                                               Top

A group advisory system has been adopted by the college for the benefit of the students. A staff member will be in charge of a group of twenty-five students. On admission to the college, each student will be assigned to a Group Advisor from the concerned department. The Group Advisor keeps the records of all academic and extracurricular activities of the students under his/her guidance. A file containing the photograph, personal and academic details are maintained by the Staff Advisor for each student. All applications for leave, scholarships, certificates, etc. are to be forwarded to the principal through the Group Advisor.

 Co-operative Society                                                                                   Top

A Co-operative Society “Engineering College Co-operative society Ltd. No R. 51, Thrissur” is functioning in the college main building. The Society supplies text books , practical manuals, note books, laboratory records , drawing instruments, surveying instruments and other stationary articles needed for the students , staff and other Government institutions , with discount rates. A savings bank is also being run by the society for the benefit of staff and students. The staff and students of the college are members of the society. The functioning of the society is governed by a Director Board which consists of 4 staff members and 4 student members. The Principal of the college is the President of the Society.

  Hostel                                                                                                          Top

The college has four Hostel Blocks for Men and two Hostel Blocks for women students with capacity 690 and 160 respectively. These hostels have separate establishments and are headed by the warden assisted by Resident Tutors. They are the admitting authority. Dr. K.R. Jayadevan is the warden. On admission, each student is required to pay Rs. 4430/- towards admission fee and caution deposit. The caution deposit Rs. 4000/- will be returned only at the time of leaving the hostel after adjusting liabilities, if any. Students belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other eligible communities are required to pay Rs. 1080/- towards admission fee and caution deposit. (Caution Deposit Rs. 1000/-)

Messes are run on dividing system and there is provision for vegetarian and non-vegetarian messes. The hostel inmates are expected to follow the hostel rules strictly and as directed by warden and resident tutors.

The institute operates college buses for the use of students and sraff. Presently we have three buses operating in various routes. The operation of the college bus is managed by a Bus Committee. The students are issued identity cum Bus Pass during the admission process.

A full-fledged canteen is functioning within the campus for convenience of the staff and students (Both Regular and Part Time)

Post Office & Bank                                                                                      Top

A post office is functioning within the campus with its working hours between 9.00 am and 5.00pm.The Branch of State Bank of Travancore, Cheroor is functioning in the campus. ATM Facility is also available.
