Proposal for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Government Engineering College, Thrissur. The Staff, Students and Alumni of Government Engineering College are planning to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the college during 2007-08. This is the second Engineering College established in the state and the college has produced many out standing professionals, who are serving in different parts of the Country and Abroad.

Following Programs are planned.

• Inauguration in April 2007 by President or Prime Minister.
• International conference on an appropriate topic in an emerging area.
• Golden Jubilee Lecture series – 10 lectures by eminent personalities from Scientific, Technical and Cultural Fields.
• A Golden Jubilee Monument.
• Open house – Laboratories and the facilities in the college will be open to Public. This requires input by way of up gradation of facilities.
• Cultural and Sports Meet.
• Job fair and a Technical meet.
• Alumni meet.
• Conclusion in March 2008
  

Following are some of the proposals

• New courses in B. Tech and M. Tech
• Creation of a post of Dean, UG and PG courses
• Centre for excellence for the SC ST students
• Amenity centre ( Bank, Post office, Canteen etc)
• Hostel Blocks for Boys and Girls ( Capacity 200 inmates ). Getting fund from SC/ST development agencies to ensure that SC/ST students will get admission to hostels in the first year itself, which is not fulfilled now.
• College Bus
• Modernisation of Kitchen and Mess of existing Hostels.
• Digital Library.
• Wireless networking of campus.
• Compound wall - the academic area of campus to be separated from other areas.
• New Water Tank and Water supply scheme for the whole campus.
• Pavilion for the existing Stadium.

The Staff and students of the college with support from Alumni has started mobilizing resources to organise this on a grand scale.
